A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away....
In the final years of the Clone Wars, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine issued Order 66, an order meant to elimanate the Jedi Knights. In the ensuing slaughter, many Jedi were killed. Palpatine was convinced of his victory and declared himself Emperor, effectively overthrowing the Galactic Republic.
However, a number of Jedi survived, either through skill, or with the aid of loyal troops. The survivng Jedi regrouped and attempted to kill Emperor Palpatine, but his apprentice, Darth Vader, was a powerful Jedi before he fell to the dark side and checked them at every turn.
In one final attempt, Padme Amidala sought out Lord Vader on Mustafar. Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi stowed away on her ship to destroy Vader, but on seeing his love, Anakin Skywalker, once feared as Darth Vader, returned to the side of light.
Palpatine had forseen this betrayal, and had trained a second apprentice, Darth Reaper. However, Reaper betrayed his master and usurped the empire. Reaper was a vicious warrior, but had little patience for running an empire, so he left it in the hands of the Imperial Council, an imitation of the Senate.
The Jedi Order had been all but wiped out, and the Jedi Temple on Coruscant was being used by Reaper to train more Sith. Jedi Master Yoda gathered the remaining Jedi on Alderaan, which had seceded from the Empire and had reformed the Republic under the leadership of Chancellor Bail Organa. The Jedi set about reestablishing the Order to aid the Republic.
Reaper attempted to conquer Alderaan, but the Jedi, aided by rogue units from the former Republic military drove off the Imperial forces. Casualties included Jedi Masters Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Master Skywalker, last of the Council appointed the most skilled Jedi Knights to the council, including the young and brash Ebless Egil, and the skillful Twi'lek Lynn Gali.
As star systems rushed to join both sides, the fate of the galaxy is once again uncertain. Will the Republic liberate the galaxy, or will the Empire crush it under its iron fist? Only time will tell...
